OHNY Weekend: St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery

Video by Jasmine Brown, Chelsea Stark, David Holmes.

St. Marks Church in-the-Bowery has been a cornerstone of the Lower East Side for more than two centuries. Founded in the late 1700s, it is the oldest site of continuous worship in New York City. The sculptures and statues surrounding St. Mark’s serve as a testament to the Church’s commitment to the arts (notable writers like William Carlos Williams and Allen Ginsberg as well as dancers such as Isadora Duncan and Martha Graham have performed in the church’s hall). On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, tours are from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m.
