OHNY Weekend: The Ernest Flagg Rectory

The Rectory at St. Mark’s in-the-Bowery is a historic landmark and community center. After it was badly damaged in a 1988 fire, it was carefully restored and reopened in 1999 as the Neighborhood Preservation Center, a hub of neighborhood history. Tours of the 1901 Beaux-Arts building will be conducted Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

It was operated by the students and faculty of the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University, in collaboration with The New York Times, which provides supervision to ensure that the blog remains impartial, reporting-based, thorough and rooted in Times standards.
