A young woman was in serious condition after being hit by a car on Cooper Square Sunday, the fire department said.
The incident happened near East Seventh Street shortly before 5 p.m. The victim, thought to be in her 20s, was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with a head injury.
According to a reader who used our Virtual Assignment Desk to tip us off to the incident, the woman was struck by a cab.
as i was walking home last night, a pedestrian was struck and run over by a cab at the crosswalk between cooper square and e. 7th st. at approximately 4:55pm. i called 911, ambulance was on the way, alerted a cop who went and held up traffic, and a group of people sat/stood by the person, who was not moving at all and just crumpled up. i did not stick around. i’ve been kind of desperately checking the news all day to see if the person is alive, but haven’t seen anything. any news?
We’ve asked the police department for more information and are waiting to hear back. Does anyone know more?
