As we noted earlier this week, David Godlis (known simply as Godlis) began photographing at CBGB in 1976. He has captured some of the punk scene’s most influential artists, including The Ramones, Patti Smith, and Deborah Harry.

Born in 1951 in New York City, Godlis attended Imageworks School of Photography in Cambridge Massachusetts from 1973 to 1975, before moving to New York City, where he now resides. He currently photographs the New York Film Festival and related events for the Film Society of Lincoln Center, as well as summer outdoor events for the River to River Festival.
