Ryan Gosling is no stranger to the East Village— he’s been spotted prepping for his role in “Blue Valentine” on East 7th Street, chowing down with the fam at John’s of 12th Street, and hitting up 16 Handles with his “Crazy, Stupid, Love” co-star Emma Stone. But he’s never done anything this conspicuous— Lainey Gossip found a video posted to YouTube over the weekend that seems to show the movie star breaking up a fight in the middle of Astor Place.
It’s uncertain when exactly the footage was taken, and we also have to wonder: Was this an actual street fight, or was it staged for a movie? (A couple of months ago, EV Grieve noted that “The Pines,” starring Mr. Gosling, was casting for teenagers on Avenue C.) However, we’d bet dollars to donuts that the man who appears at 0:30 is indeed “the guy from the movies,” as one of the bystanders is heard saying. You can see what seems to be Mr. Gosling’s “Giving Tree” tattoo on his upper left arm.
Update | 7:26 p.m. The freelance photographer who took the footage tells E! Online that Mr. Gosling gave one of the men $20 in order to settle the argument.
