Many in the the crowd of onlookers were excited that the 49-day-old hawk made a successful take off, but were bewildered about where she went during the flight. After several hours of deliberations, workers decided against a rescue attempt — Violet is doing well enough, they said, and the risks of intervening, for both Violet and her recently hatched baby hawk, were too great.
